So why do I believe that I’m qualified to make this documentary? I believe that anybody with a passion for nature or the environment is qualified to talk about it, marvel at its beauty, and discuss the issues surrounding it. We all share the Earth and its resources, and I believe that everyone’s voice has power and should be heard. I am making this documentary because I am passionate about learning about the world around me, and sharing the beauty of nature with people. I have lived in Georgia for my entire life and enjoyed learning about our vibrant environment in so many interesting and unique ways. As the climate crisis gets more severe, I find myself getting frustrated that we just don’t seem to be moving fast enough. This documentary, while not about climate change, is motivated by the climate crisis. I want to motivate people to start paying attention – to the world, people, and systems around them. I also want to do what I can to preserve the environment that I have grown to love so much, and I feel that steps like this are going to be important for many different environments across the globe if we wish to study them into the far future. I hope that it doesn’t happen, but there is every possibility that one day pictures and videos could be all that are left of many of the thriving ecosystems all around the globe today if something is not done to curb the current climate disaster.
In order to complete this project I will need to do a good bit of research.
I need to watch other documentaries, especially nature documentaries, and make stylistic choices about how I want to approach certain shots. I will also need to consider the ways that I wish to present the information that I collect to make it digestible to the viewer. Then, I must research the locations that I plan to film at to collect information and plan shots. I also plan to get in contact with the staff or other experts at these locations to try to secure interviews with them. I will also undoubtedly have to look into other areas of concern as they come up. Lots of research is key to avoiding problems during the production phase.
