Now that the leg work in the field is over, now comes the real challenge: postproduction. Just going after this with no plan is a recipe for disaster, as there is a long to take care of. So, I have devised a path that I will follow in order to make sure I complete everything I need to and get this piece completed.
First, I will focus on cutting up all the interviews and creating single clips for each answer. That way, it will be easier to add in the answers I want and ignore the ones I don’t want. On top of that, because I’ll be watching the interviews back, it will give me the opportunity to mix the sound and correct any problems with the audio from the interviews. Next, I will start looking through all my B-roll shots, so that I can determine if I will need to pull any old games to fill in where I failed. While going through the shots, I will also be able to color correct and sharpen up any shots that were out of focus or poorly lit. The Complex is notorious for having bad lighting after all. Finally, once all that is complete, I will begin organizing the interview answers I want to use so that I can begin to script out my voiceovers and where they end up within the timeline. Once that’s done and the voiceovers are recorded, all that’s left is placing the B-roll and we’re gravy.
