Week 1: Proposal

Prior to the first day of class, we were asked to find our scripts and bring them in hand to have something to start with. I created the above script in my Screenwriting course and while I do like my script, I am more passionate about creating a documentary for my senior Capstone project.

I am passionate about creating a documentary on the renovations taking place on the Lowndes County Courthouse in Valdosta, GA. I want to uncover what changes they are making and how they are going to uphold the history of the building while it is under construction.

Project Logline: A documentary about the Lowndes County Courthouse under renovation and how they are working to uphold the history of the historic building.

Second interview subject: Donald Davis – Lowndes County Historical Society and Museum Executive Director

With Mr. Davis, my plan is to interview him and get information on the history of the Lowndes County Courthouse. I want to tell the history behind the courthouse and to show the construction project’s progress. This documentary can be used by the City of Valdosta, the Lowndes County Historical Society Museum, and others. The documentary can be used to communicate the new changes to the courthouse with the community. The Courthouse was designed by Frank P. Milburn and was completed in 1905.
