Week 3: More Research and Interviewees

Logline for the Harley Langdale Jr. Foundation Documentary: The Harley Langdale Jr. Foundation, formed in 1958, works to advance and assist the community in education, health, research, and service. 

I have met with Mr. Warren, the Executive Director at the Harley Langdale Jr. Foundation. He has okayed the documentary for now but wants to get approval from the Chairman and President of the Foundation before proceeding, My current plan is to go film broll of Harley Langdale Jr. memorabilia next week to have that for the first half of the documentary when it goes over his life and why he started the Foundation. In the meantime, I have also been researching more about the Foundation and possible interviewees.

Interviewees list (with brief bios):

Jim Langdale (Chairman & President at the Harley Langdale Jr. Foundation)

James (Jim) Harley Langdale currently serves as President and COO of The Langdale Company. He has spent his entire career working in a variety of positions in the timber processing industry. Mr. Langdale served a three-year term on the Rural Development Council for the state of Georgia. He previously served on the governmental affairs committee for the Southeastern Lumbers Manufacturers Association. He also served on the Board of Directors of BWSLC Holdings, LLC.  He currently serves on the Southeastern Lumber Manufacturers Association Board of Directors, Georgia Forestry Association Board and the Citizen’s National Bank of Quitman Board. Mr. Langdale attended Valdosta State University where he received a BFA in Communications.

Donnie Warren (Executive Director at the Harley Langdale Jr. Foundation)

Donald (Donnie) Warren graduated from Valdosta State University with a BBA-Accounting degree and the University of Georgia with a Masters of Accountancy degree and is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in the state of Georgia. He serves on The Langdale Company Board, Commercial Banking Company Board, Southeast Georgia FCA Board, Lowndes FFA Alumni Board and VSU Harley Langdale, Jr. College of Business Advisory Board. He is a member of the Georgia Society of CPA’s, AICPA, Georgia Forestry Association and Lowndes Touchdown Club. He is a past member of the VSU Foundation Trustee Board.

Hilary H. Gibbs (Vice President and Chief Development Officer)

Hilary Gibbs joined SGMC with more than 18 years of experience in development and fundraising, having recently served as Associate Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations at Valdosta State University. Ms. Gibbs will be responsible for the oversight of the SGMC Foundation and Governmental Affairs for the health system. Gibbs earned her Bachelor of Business Administration where she majored in Marketing and a Master’s in Education from Valdosta State University.
