Week 1 Jan 9-15th

RESEARCH

Domain Research: The new script we made is about a college freshman finally getting over his high school crush. After seeing her at a party, he realizes that he can’t get over her and that he really wants to be with her but before he confesses his feeling he faces trials and tribulations. He must overcome different obstacles and people that stand in his way before he can actually end up getting together with her. With the help of his best friend, our main character creates a plan to throw another party and finally tells her how he feels.

Audience Research: Our script is aimed towards African American teens to young adults(14-28).

Creative Research: The 3 examples that we used to craft our new script was a combination of A thin line between love and hate, Dope, and Paid in full. The reasons we chose these movies were because our script is in the same genre as A thin line between Love and Hate and Dope.

Progress update: Our previous scripts had to be changed so we had to restart and create something new from scratch. As of right now, I believe we have a solid foundation to build upon our short film there are still some complications but we will adapt and move forward. As the week progresses, we want to plan out more specific scenes and identify who we’d want our cast to be. We have some cast members in mind but we have to try and confirm everyone’s availability.

Project management:

As of right now, we have met outside of class but we need to start scheduling more weekly tasks in order to stay on top of everything and make this the best production we can make. Once we get everything together will plan on moving at a steady pace so we can go start into editing once we’re done.

Week 2 Jan 16th-22rd

Audience: Our target audience is the younger generations, specifically young adults. Ages 18-23 because it may feature some explicit language and the plot is based on college students.

Creative: Our newest examples of movies we take a little inspiration from the films Project X, House Party, and Super Bad.

Progress Update: In the second week, we continued writing our script to enhance the dialogue and add more realism to it. We are picking the rest of the cast but as of today, we have decided our main character “Drew” to be played by Brian. We have our other main character (Miles) selected as well who is supposed to be played by Cameron Sanders.

Project Management

Jaden and I have been meeting almost twice a week to try and get our script finished up. We have the overall concept down to the T, getting actors to commit and scheduling out times that work for everyone is the most difficult part. We’ve reached out to multiple actors and actresses, and we’ve yet to get a solid confirmation besides Brian but we’ll continue to reach out and finalize our cast.

WEEK 5: We came to an agreement as a group to change the entire course of our project and make a documentary surrounding our growing and buzzing rap career. We decided this was the right move for us because getting a group of actors together was too difficult with everybody’s scheduling, it was just easier and better for us to change course and do something we actually passionate about.
