This week the main goal was to figure out what I wanted to do for my capstone. After thinking about it I decided to do my capstone as a podcast on the topic of sports. Once this was decided I found that there were two other students with the same idea, and we decided to team up for the project. Once we were together, we concluded that we wanted to do a podcast where we interviewed athletes and sport professionals in media and sports broadcasting about their story and how they came to be in the profession of sports they are in today. Our target would include anyone who is interest in sports and how it is broadcasted to Live TV. This includes men and women from the ages 18-25. We wanted to find a couple of examples of podcast that were similar to the idea we chose, and we found podcaster like Travis and Jason Kelce, Joe Rogan, and Pat Mcaffee.
With a podcast we could show the skills we each learned throughout the past 4 years. For example, one thing we learned was how to gather b-roll for a sports package. With this knowledge we could use what we learned to include b-roll of the athletes or coaches we interview to physically show what they do. Another example is the audio skills we learned through the sports workshop class we took. In sports workshop, we learned how to use the audio equipment and how to edit audio together. One assignment from the class gave us the opportunity to make audio episodes that recapped a sport event that happened during the week. With the knowledge we gained from that we have the skills to work the equipment required for a podcast and we will be able to get clear audio for the podcast.
