Week 2

Planning Process & Reflection

because I am filming myself and those closest to me, I will not be having any set actors. My family, partner, and coworkers may be filmed and accredited in the credits, as well as aknowledged in the documentary. The documentary in non-fiction so actors are not necessary.
the script is being written this week as well, though it is not as structured as a narrative film. there is leeway in terms of what will be said, but there are some parameters.

Week 1

Project Background & Research Process

This project idea has been spiraling in my head for years, and I was debating on actually creating it for capstone (and in general) due to the fact that I felt it would be a very vulnerable piece of work. I would be showcasing myself, my story, and my innermost thoughts through a film documentary. I wanted to focus on the concepts of personal growth and character development. Lots of things have occurred in my life that can reach out to others and have them relate to me, as well as potentially open the eyes of others, and have them knowledge someone else’s reality. The research that went into this was watching films and tv shows that inspire me in terms of cinematography and concept. A list of films/shows that inspired me and my concept include:

  • Call Me by Your Name (everything.)
  • Euphoria (cinematography, sound and concept)
  • The Handmaids Tale (visual storytelling)
  • Bullet Train (cinematography, visual storytelling)
  • Gentefied (Mexican American experience)
